When you start client hunting, I recommend that you don’t focus only on broad or main niches. Most people search for the same popular niches, which means you can face high competition and find the same businesses that everyone else is targeting.

Instead, we will use a smarter approach: target the sub-categories inside the main niche.

For example, Kitchen is a broad niche. Instead of searching for “Kitchen,” we can target a more specific sub-niche such as Kitchen Tools.

This gives us a better opportunity to discover businesses that other client hunters may not be targeting.

Our Client Hunting Formula

We will use this simple formula:

Need + Service + Country + Niche

For example:

Need + Services + USA + Kitchen Tools

Now take this keyword combination and search it directly on Google.

Google can show you different types of businesses, including:

• Sponsored websites
• Organic websites
• New businesses
• Established businesses
• Service-based companies
• E-commerce websites

Your job is to identify these websites and check which businesses could potentially need your services.

Why Use Google?

We could use many different tools for client hunting, but I recommend starting with the old and simple Google search method.

Why?

Because Google can help you find businesses that are actively appearing in search results, including businesses that are already spending money on advertising.

Sponsored Results Are Important

When you search:

Need + Services + USA + Kitchen Tools

you may see Sponsored/Ad results at the top.

These businesses are especially interesting because they are already investing money in Google advertising.

That doesn’t automatically mean they will become your client, but it can be a useful buying-signal that the business has a marketing budget.

Don’t ignore the organic results either. A business doesn’t have to run ads to become a potential client.
